Seressans, also known as pandours, were Croatian volunteers assembled by Count Josip Jelačić, the Ban of Croatia between 1848 and 1849. Seressans were combination frontier guards/police offers and protected the border against the Ottomans in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
